Yet another human skull study
I made this in ZBrush. It still needs some refinement, but I thought I would post it anyways in order to get some feedback on the basic shape and proportions.

phanaeus Vindex
I felt like modeling a beetle yesterday, so here is the start of a model of phanaeus Vindex, more commonly known as the Rainbow Scarab. I started out by gathering as many references as I could, and then I set up the scene in Autodesk Maya 2010. Next, I sculpted the details in ZBrush. I made some final changes in Photoshop to the textures, and created a basic specular map. Finally, I imported the model and textures into the Marmoset Toolbag to render it.
I imagine that I will further modify this model sometime soon. I also plan to do a lot more traditional work, especially acrylic painting.

mountains
I had this really interesting dream that a couple of my friends and I were hiking across some mountains. When we were halfway across a rickety, old, bridge- a magnificent show of lights appeared in the sky. We paused on the bridge in awe at the aurora that was unfolding in the sky above us.
Here is my interpretation of the dream, done in Photoshop.

Fun with Scrulptris
After graduating about a month ago from the Art Institute of Seattle, I have tried my best to keep busy while job searching. One thing I have been doing is playing with Sculptris. Here are some examples of things I have made so far using the program.

Lion mount
I decided to model the lion concept I made, and adjusted the proportions to match those of a real lion. I modeled it in Maya and textured it using Mudbox and Photoshop. I only used a diffuse map and added a specular material to the metal pieces.

Armored Lion and Thunderbird Progress
Here's a concept I drew today for an armored lion. I was thinking about modeling it. I have also attached a quick render of the thunderbird.

WIP Ford 1955 Thunderbird
The past three weeks have been extremely busy for me. I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle with a BFA in Game Art and Design, moved back in with my parents, and began applying for jobs in the game industry. I decided that my portfolio needs a complete overhaul so I started modeling a Ford 1955 Thunderbird. Hopefully I will finish it in the next couple weeks so I can move on to a new portfolio piece.

Work in Progress: Catacomb Slasher
For a FuturePoly zBrush class that I have been taking, I am creating a sculpt (and eventually low poly bake) of a Catacombs Slasher, a creature concepted by Jaime Jones. I have about 2 weeks left of the class, and hope to finish it by then and possibly place it in my portfolio to demonstrate my ability to work from a concept.
